My summer semester ended up jam-packed with classes and presentations for faculty looking to incorporate social media tools into classroom instruction, and the current fall semester looks to be equally busy. Since I have hit up so many fellow educators for examples and feedback, I thought that others might also benefit from seeing some of these examples, or learning about the questions, concerns and ideas voiced by the educators who attended my classes and the educators with whom I network across the interwebs and our campus.
This example literally fell into my lap this week, forwarded on by one of our Business professors for whom I am conducting a class for Business Writing faculty early next month. It is an assignment from one of her colleagues in the Department of Marketing — Christopher Axell, a lecturer in the Business Communication Program in the Department of Marketing, part of the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics here at California State University, Fullerton.
Christopher uses this assignment in his Business Administration 201 (Business Writing) course, and he was kind enough to give me permission to share it with others seeking to include these types of social media assignments into their classroom curriculum. I did take the liberty of adding Christopher’s name, title and course information into the document header.
Are you a fellow educator? Do you feel an obligation to teach your students about using social web tools to network with other professionals and find employment in their field?
